Can I reuse (or decide not to use) a binder?

The next time you go to order binders, consider either reusing a “previously owned” binder, ordering recyclable binders made from chipboard, or best of all, not using binders at all. Can you store documents electronically or provide handouts on a thumb drive or web site?

The recycling shelf at the Hall loading dock has dozens of binders left there to be recycled or reused. The problem is, unfortunately no one seems to want them. We tried taking them to East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse and to the Campus Reuse. Both refused to accept them. Anyone have other suggestions?

Vinyl plastic binders are not recyclable and therefore end up being thrown into the landfill.

Another dilemma for us green consumers to ponder…
