Business Office News

The campus email system is again being targeted by outsiders trying to steal your information. You will likely receive falsified emails requesting that you send your CalNet or CalMail ID and passphrase to verify your account information.

DO NOT respond to these messages. These emails, known as phishing scams, are attempts to steal your CalNet account information.

Campus official groups, including the CalNet or CalMail teams, will NEVER request that you send any account information or passwords to them.

The CalMail team blocks email to and from phishing addresses as soon as they are detected.

If you are not able to access your CalMail account, and suspect that you might have responded to a phishing scam, please visit the Cal 1 Card Office on Lower Sproul Plaza to have your CalNet passphrase reset. Once you have done this, please call CalMail Consulting at 642-8500, option 2 then 1 to regain access to your email account.

If you have any questions about phishing attempts, please send email to consult@berkeley.edu. Also, if you receive a phish, please send the message, including the full mail headers, to consult@berkeley.edu.

Sincerely,
Your CalNet and CalMail Teams
